Topping Trees, anybody have any pictures?

Topping trees is not a good practice. There is a better way to reduce the size of a tree other than just chopping off its top!

Now is a good time to notice when trees are topped. When the new growth starts to grow back, it will grow straight up. It is a weaker attachment and will grow faster, thinner and longer than before. The tree ends being bigger than if you had either left it alone or pruned in properly. Utility companies do this and they refer to it as "clearance not appearance".

Hi Sheila,
Glad to see you joined this new group. I just passed my ISA Certified Arborist Exam and am very excited to share both our concerns as well as our passion for trees. Hope this new group works out. I have never done this before and am exicited about trying it.
