To All,
Please put you inquiries about flora and fauna that you need IDed in the discussion forum as follows:
1. In the 'Discussion title' field identify the plant by briefly describing leaf type, flower type and any other distinguishing aspects. eg pink daisy like flower with dark green spikey leaves

2. Add any other elements in the text field. eg where it's growing, whether is dies back, when it blooms, if it likes sun or shade, etc.

3. Use the camera icon in the tool bar above the text box to add the photo in the body of the text.

4. Once an ID is made - can the original poster please edit the title by adding the ID in parenthesis behind the original title.

That way newcomers and "old posters' can go to the discussions before they post about plants that may have already been identified. This may help with keeping the comments section from getting overcrowded and the discussion section easier to find information.

I have a few of these and ordered a bulk bag of them from High Country Gardens this year to plant within my tall day lilies. Question though-- do they reproduce at the bulb level, or will their seeds actually become flowers? It would be such a savings if they reproduced from seed! Mine are Purple Sensation, and I also picked up a few other varieties this year to try. We'll see next year!

Before blooming is it's shape rounded? If it's only about 1-2 ft. tall, possibly, commonly called a 'Balloon plant' zone 8?

Perhaps it will encourage people to post correctly if they know that many of us don't bother to look at their incorrectly posted items! This is how my teachers got us to toe the line. I learned a lot from them so I honour them by continuing their traditions!

I agree with Diane...as a former teacher...I know how it is to give repeated directions...I know I am "relatively new" and it was confusing for me at fist (I still have my moments) ..and...I was a former H.S. computer teacher! Every format, no matter how user friendly, is different...Kudos to you in all your efforts to get people to conform...We do appreciate all your valiant efforts!! :)

Thanks Beth for your answer, I understand what you want to do but I really think you are going to drive yourself nuts trying to get people to do it, as a teacher I know that people don't read directions so if it says add comment thats all they read and they post their question. Once people do it correctly they will continue to do it. How about sending a welcome to new comers as they join letting them know how to ask questions etc. Good Luck

Hi Diane,
The "group" format only shows up to 10 discussions at a time. If you go to the bottom of the discussions on the left is +Start Discussion on the right you will see View All Click on View All and you will see every discussion that has been asked and page numbers at the bottom.

YES, the problem is getting members to go back and edit their titles with descriptive questions (white flower, round leaf bush-not what is this plant?) and to go back and add the answer they have received. That is one of the reason I sent everyone an email. I'm trying to get a portfolio together so people that have a question about a plant can go to the discussions and ID the plant from the description in the title (with the answer). The Discussion Section "runs" more slowly then commenting so more people are going to be able to view it longer, it is Titled like a mini group, and the question is less likely to be repeated over and over. I can not edit another members discussion. As the creator I can only delete discussions and comments and close them.

I want to keep comments for members chatting with each other about plants in general, fun gardening tips, help newcomers with the group, links to other sites, invitations to other groups etc-but not questions...I see there was a question about bugs, this should have been posted in a bug group where there may be more help from "bug people" that have experiences with these insects. It would be nice if the creator of the group can have more power of moving comments to discussions etc. I even asked the person that started the site and did not get an answer.
