Farewell Cypress Gardens

For those who might not have heard, Cypress Gardens in Florida has closed. Although various buyers have tried to keep it going, this looks like the end. The company said it has begun negotiations with several potential buyers and lessees interested in acquiring all or parts of the property.

Gardening with Feng Shui

Walking through our personal gardens provides the grounding we need, whether for destressing, starting our day, or just plain old personal therapy and enjoyment. We can add little touches that tune it up and add to our garden's revitalizing effect.

Centuries ago, the Chinese discovered the "secrets" of balance with mere use of placement, color, orientation, and the use of natural materials. Visit my website:… Continue

Oh Dear, Oh Deer

I live in a crittery sort of place. Coyotes cross my path quite regularly. Wild turkeys forage under oaks along our road. Beavers build and re-build dams in the inlet. Last week I witnessed a pair of bald eagles fishing for their dinner while I ate mine. it's no big deal to see deer.

To JEMS butterfly

I think that's a mourning cloak butterfly. They actually hibernate over winter in leaves and bark as adults.

Addressing years of neglect: Controlling Elaeagnus that has run wild for 10 years.

i>Elaeagnus ebbingei
Enhance an evergreen scene with a single silvery specimen or plant in mass for a windbreak, bank cover, barrier hedge or fast growing 'wall' to screen unsightly views. Can be groomed into formal hedging, but will contribute an elegant uncultivated feel to naturalistic gardens if grown without shearing.

When we moved in this plant along the front privacy fence was already out of control. The previous owners never touched it as it grew to heights of 20 feet along this 60’… Continue

Here we are again!!!! End of another busy season!

Here i am again like most looking at all my flower gardens wishing it was still summer. The heavy frost have taken a toll on all my flowers . I did not have alot of time to tend to my flowers towards the end of summer due to caring for my parents and unexpected travelling. When i did come home, i was able to… Continue
